Handout

Problem

Corporate workplaces often generate significant waste, including paper, plastics, and other materials that could be recycled. Many employees lack the knowledge, tools, or motivation to implement effective recycling practices, leading to missed opportunities for reducing environmental impact and fostering sustainability.

Solution

The training provides employees with practical strategies to develop and implement workplace recycling programs. By using Gagné’s Nine Events of Instruction, the session includes interactive learning, real-world examples, and collaborative activities to identify recyclable materials, address common challenges, and create action plans. The solution emphasizes teamwork, actionable steps, and follow-up support to ensure lasting improvements in waste reduction and sustainability efforts.

Design & Development

This project was designed using Gagné’s Nine Events of Instruction as a guiding framework, ensuring an engaging and systematic approach. Key steps included:

  1. Analysis: Conducted a needs assessment to identify gaps in workplace recycling practices and employee awareness.

  2. Design: Structured the training session to include a mix of engaging presentations, collaborative group activities, and a post-training self-paced module. Key materials included a PowerPoint presentation, brainstorming sheets, action planning templates, and a facilitator guide.

  3. Development: Created detailed instructional materials, including visuals, success stories, and step-by-step guidance for creating recycling programs. Developed a self-paced module on Rise 360 for reflection and scenario-based learning.

  4. Implementation: Designed a 70-minute session that combines presentations, team brainstorming, and action planning. Participants work together to design recycling initiatives tailored to their workplace.

  5. Evaluation: Integrated formative assessments through group activity feedback and summative assessments via self-paced module performance and post-training surveys. Follow-up modules track progress and reinforce learning.

The design ensures a balance of information delivery, hands-on collaboration, and actionable outcomes to create a sustainable workplace culture.
